Welcome To Tonmawr And Pelenna Juniors RFC

Tonmawr Juniors, A Brief History.

The first Junior's section was formed in 1973 by Ann and Lyn Jones, our current President, and Cledwyn Edwards, current senior club secretary and ran until the end of 1976 when Ann and Lyn left and set up a thriving junior section in Cwmavon.

The section was then reformed, again with Cledwyn's involvement in 1982 and has since gone on from that point strengthening every year. At the age of 12 to 16 the name of the teams is changed to Pelenna to signify the contrubtion from Pontrhydyfen players to the side although there are also players from many other areas of Neath Port Talbot participating.

Although Tonmawr as a village has a small population, the attraction of the facilities, standards of coaching etc has drawn outsiders into our ranks and once they have experienced the Tonmawr way have seen many stay to play at senior level with even a few moving to live within Tonmawr.

The section has produced many outstanding players with our pinnacle at the moment being the Osprey's Steve Tandy, a player who always remembers his roots and gives us his assistance whenever it is requested.
